The 2013 Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge invites students in grades 5-8 to create a one- to two-minute video showcasing their great idea to solve a real-world problem. Ten national finalists will have the opportunity to work directly with a 3M scientist in an exclusive summer mentorship program and bring their innovative ideas to life. One lucky student will be named America’s Top Young Scientist and receive a prize package that includes $25,000, a trip with Discovery Student Adventures, and other prizes.

Discovery Education is a division of Discovery Communications, which produces Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, TLC and other channels.
