MTV, mtvU Put Spotlight on Students

As part of its “Random Acts of mtvU” series, MTV and mtvU are teaming up with a host of celebrities to surprise and reward several hardworking, civic-minded college students.  In a one-week lead-up to the MTV Video Music Awards (Aug. 25, 8 p.m. CT), MTV and mtvU will air daily segments in which students are surprised with celebrity messages supporting the “Boston Strong” initiative.

Each student will also receive a “once in a lifetime iconic VMA experience with performer Katy Perry, courtesy of Pepsi and mtvU; a Best Buy shopping spree; and Windows Phones to create visual interpretations of VMA-nominated songs.”

Other participating celebrities include Robin Thicke, Ed Sheeran, 2 Chainz, Fall Out Boy, Jason Derulo, Tegan & Sara, Timeflies, and  the cast of “Pretty Little Liars.”
