Two California Communities Get VOD

Beginning yesterday, Suddenlink customers in Mammoth Lakes and June Lake, Calif., who have Suddenlink digital receivers, can enjoy Video on Demand (VOD) service, available on Channel 1.

VOD features thousands of viewing choices, many of them in high-definition (HD) format, including movies, sports, news, music and popular cable-network shows. More than a third of the Suddenlink VOD library is free. The rest is available for either a per-view charge or monthly subscription. Viewers can order titles via remote control at any time.

Suddenlink will continue to announce launches of new and enhanced services in other communities as they are confirmed.

Romance Out. Horror In. What Women Watch

Horror showsAccording to the recent AdWeek article “What Women Watch on TV,” today’s female audiences are gobbling up television’s darker fare.

More than half (59 percent) of FX’s “American Horror Story: Coven” viewers were women. Within the cable drama realm, the next three most popular shows among female audiences were AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” FX’s “Sons of Anarchy,” and ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars.”

Another fun fact: More women watch NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” than the network’s reality romance show “The Bachelorette.”

3 Movies Make Early Debuts On Demand

moviesSports comedy “Grudge Match,” music documentary “Justin Bieber’s Believe,” and classic fantasy sequel “The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug” are available now through Suddenlink On Demand, all 28 days before Netflix and Red Box.

In “Grudge Match,” two life-long rival boxers meet for a final grudge match, 50 years after their last fight. Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone. Kim Basinger, Kevin Hart and Alan Arkin co-star. (see trailer)

Take a back stage look at the young pop performer during his rise to super stardom in “Justin Bieber’s Believe.” The documentary also features Scooter Braun and Usher. (see trailer)

Food Net Stops in Bossier City

In “Bistro to Go vs. Southern Traditions,” pits two friends hoping to expand their catering business against a father-daughter team with a passion for southern cooking.

Food Network is available to virtually all Suddenlink customers who have what is commonly known as Expanded Basic TV service.

New On Demand: ‘Anchorman 2’

Comedy sequel “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues” is now available through Suddenlink On Demand.

After losing his job to his wife, Ron Burgundy reassembles the news team. Will the world’s greatest anchorman be crushed beneath the weight of his own ego? Will Ferrell stars, with Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner and Christina Applegate.

‘Deadliest Catch’ Fantasy Game is Back

Fantasy action film “47 Ronin” is now available through Suddenlink On Demand, 28 days before Netflix and Red Box.

After being banished by a warlord, a band of 47 leaderless samurai must seek help from an enslaved half-breed in their ultimate fight for vengeance and redemption. Keanu Reeves stars. Hiroyuki Sanada, Tadanobu Asano, Rinko Kikuch, Ko Shibasaki and Min Tanaka co-star.

Tonight: Last Call for HIMYM Cast

The final episode of long-running CBS comedy series “How I Met Your Mother” airs tonight, 7 p.m. CT, after a nine-year run that consistently averaged nine million-plus viewers per episode.

“The entire original main cast has remained with the show for the whole run, the only change being the addition of [The Mother, Cristin] Milioti for season nine,” noted the New York Daily News. “That doesn’t happen on television.”

“HIMYM” co-creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas are currently working on their next show. While the cast and characters will be completely new, the theme will be similar, as is the title, “How I Met Your Dad.”

DiCaprio, Vaughn Flicks Now On Demand

Oscar-nominated “The Wolf of Wall Street” and comedy film “The Delivery Man” are now available through Suddenlink On Demand.

Leonardo DiCaprio delivers another stellar performance, this time as a young stockbroker hungry for a life of non-stop thrills, where corruption is king and more is never enough. Jonah Hill and Matthew McConaughey co-star in the Martin Scorsese film. (see trailer)
