New on Suddenlink VOD: ‘Cloud Atlas’
Sci-fi drama “Cloud Atlas” is now available on Suddenlink Video on Demand (VOD), 28 days before Netflix and Redbox.
Tom Hanks and Halle Berry star in a single story that unfolds in multiple timelines over the course of 500 years. One soul is shaped from a killer into a hero, and an act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution.
Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Doona Bae, Ben Whishaw, James D’Arcy, Xun Zhou, Keith David, David Gyasi, Susan Sarandon and Hugh Grant also star.

Ted Allen Answers “Chopped” Fans’ Questions
Ted Allen, host of Food Network’s “Chopped,” recently chatted live with Facebook fans. If you missed it, you can still read Allen’s answers to several fan questions, including what the judges are like in person and what the competition is like behind the scenes.

Two Suddenlink Initiatives Win Beacon Awards
Our Midland team’s program won in the Community Relations category for like-sized cable systems. The Amarillo team was named best in the Events and Observances category for like-sized cable systems.
Beacon Awards are presented by the Association of Cable Communicators (ACC). Winners were honored at the ACC’s annual conference this week in New York City.

Short Film Contest Salutes SpongeBob
This week, Nickelodeon began accepting entries for its first SpongeBob SquarePants-inspired short film competition, aptly named “SpongeBob SquareShorts: Original Fan Tributes.”
Filmmakers of all ages are invited to create original, SpongeBob-inspired short films for a chance to win a cash prize and trip for four to a screening event in Hollywood, Calif.
The call for entries opened May 6, and will run through June 28. Entries can be submitted in two categories (under 18 years of age, and 18 and over) to http://www.SpongeBobSquareShorts.com.

Three Customers Win Free VOD Movies
Yesterday we revealed “Parental Guidance” as the April Movie Madness 2013 champion. But there is more than one winner in this competition. Customers who (a) participated in our survey and (b) correctly predicted both the championship-round movies and the ultimate victor were entered into a random drawing for three prizes.
The grand-prize winner of 24 free Suddenlink VOD movies is Arkansas-customer Steve LaVergne. The two runner-ups — each winning two free VOD movies — are Louisiana-customer Jacqueline Lightfoot and Arizona-customer Thomas Clute.
Congratulations to all of them.
“American Pickers” Will Soon Scout Muskogee
A producer from History Channel’s “American Pickers” will visit Suddenlink-served Muskogee, Okla., in early June, in search of prime “picking” locations for the show’s stars Frank Fritz and Mike Wolfe.
Casting Associate Producer Anthony Rodriguez says they are looking for unique items, such as Civil War antiques, vintage casino gaming machines, vintage motorcycles and scooters, old advertising signs, and antique rodeo gear.

“Parental Guidance” has been crowned the champion of April Movie Madness 2013, besting “This is 40” by a mere 5 orders through Suddenlink Video on Demand (VOD) – one of the closest margins of victory in the entire competition.
We have also drawn names from the participants who correctly predicted the championship pairing of the two movies noted above and chose “Parental Guidance” as the ultimate victor. We’re confirming eligibility now and will announce the winners soon.
One grand prize winner will receive 24 free Suddenlink VOD movies that can be watched any time between June this year and May next year. Two runner-ups will each win two free VOD movies that can be watched anytime in June or July this year .
