‘Bering Sea Gold’ Premieres Tonight on Discovery
Every summer, as the glacial ice melts around Nome, Alaska, a handful of fortune seekers hunt for gold in the most unlikely of places – the bottom of the Bering Sea. From the producers of “Deadliest Catch” comes Discovery Channel’s newest series, “Bering Sea Gold.” The show debuts tonight.

Point Pleasant, W. Va., Debuts Renovated Store
Yesterday, employees cut a ribbon to open a new retail Suddenlink store in Point Pleasant, W. Va. The new store features hands-on interactive displays demonstrating Suddenlink services. Bright green-and-blue décor greets visitors, who will no longer find counters separating them from the store’s customer-care representatives.
Since last September, Suddenlink has unveiled new or renovated stores in Arkadelphia, Jonesboro, El Dorado, and Russellville, Ark.; Alexandria, Natchitoches and Ruston, La.; Branson and St. Joseph, Mo.; and Conroe and Little Elm, Texas.

Despite Lockout, NBA Ratings Are Strong
The NBA lockout, which delayed the start of the 2011–12 regular season and wiped out 16 games, hasn’t tempered fans’ enthusiasm. According to the Media Life website, ratings for games on TNT and ESPN are up substantially for the first 13 games of the year.
According to Nielsen data, games on TNT are averaging 3.1 million viewers, up 67 percent over last year at the same time. On Christmas Day, ESPN’s telecast of the Los Angeles Clippers-Golden State Warriors game earned a 2.3 overnight rating, up 77 percent from a game held in the same time slot last year.
