N.C. Communities Get Enhanced Services
Today, we completed a fiber-optic network upgrade that allows us to begin launching high-speed Internet service, a new, all-digital TV lineup, including a host of new high-definition (HD) TV channels, and other service enhancements for Scotland Neck, Enfield and parts of Halifax County, N.C.
With construction completed, we launched high-speed Internet services with download speeds up to 1.5 and 10 Megabits per second (Mbps) in areas where those services had not been available. We also introduced a new, all-digital TV lineup, which offers superior picture and sound quality, as well as numerous HD TV channels. The new TV lineup features more than double the number of channels previously available and includes more than 90 new HD TV channels.
The network upgrade also allows us to offer Video on Demand (VOD) service and TiVo® Premiere digital video recorders (DVRs).
VOD features thousands of viewing choices, many of them in high-definition (HD) format, including movies, sports, news, music and popular cable-network shows. More than a third of the Suddenlink VOD library is free. The rest is available for either a per-view charge or monthly subscription. Viewers can order titles via remote control at any time.
TiVo Premiere combines Suddenlink’s service with TiVo’s best-in-class user interface to offer access to thousands of hours of entertainment choices, including content from Suddenlink’s video-on-demand library and the Web, all accessible through TiVo’s advanced search and discovery features.
Customers who have multiple TiVo® Premiere DVRs from Suddenlink will also be able to start watching a recorded program in one room and continue it in another. For example, Suddenlink customers with three TiVo Premiere DVRs can record up to six shows at the same time, watch recordings on any TV, start watching in one room and resume in another, and have up to 600 hours of recording space.
Multi-room DVR service has been introduced to customers in Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas and West Virginia. This list, while not comprehensive, covers the majority of the communities in which this service was deployed prior to today’s launches in North Carolina. Additional communities will be announced as they’re confirmed.
These enhancements are part of Project Imagine. We will continue to announce launches of new and enhanced services in other communities as they are confirmed.
