NCAA Tourney Starts Tonight on truTV

It’s tip-off time for the big dance. The tournament begins tonight with coverage on truTV of the four-game first round in Dayton, Ohio. These games will determine the teams that advance to the second round, or round of 64.

Doubleheader action this evening features North Carolina A&T State University vs. Liberty University at 5:40 p.m. CT. St. Mary’s College meets Middle Tennessee State University at 8:10 p.m. CT. Pre-game coverage begins at 5 p.m. CT. Another doubleheader will be played tomorrow night.

All 67 games of the tournament will air live on CBS, TNT, TBS and truTV.

Local CBS stations are available to all Suddenlink TV customers on what is commonly known as Basic TV service; TNT and TBS are available on Expanded Basic; and truTV is available to most customers on either Expanded Basic or one of our incremental levels of service known as digital tiers.

Catch Three New Series Premieres Tonight on Cable

Three original cable series will premiere tonight: Discovery Channel’s “How We Invented the World,” Spike TV’s “Urban Tarzan,” and ABC Family’s “Twisted.”

“How We Invented the World” examines four modern inventions: cell phones, cars, planes, and skyscrapers. Each episode in this four-part series reveals the stories and seemingly random events that ultimately led to the creation of these inventions. It airs at 8 p.m. CT.

On “Urban Tarzan,” get to know a famed animal wrangler and former Steve Irwin associate who rescues escaped animals. Showtime is 9:30 p.m. CT.

On “Twisted,” a troubled teen reconnects with two childhood friends. This is a special presentation of the pilot episode, which will play again June 11 as a kickoff to the show’s summer run. Tonight’s show starts at 8 p.m. CT.

The NCAA® Men’s Division I Basketball Championship Tournament begins Tuesday, March 19, and runs through Monday, April 8.

Discovery Previews Show With Pi Day Celebration

Today is Pi Day, the annual celebration of the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. To celebrate, Discovery Channel is previewing its upcoming show, “The Big Brain Theory,” and inviting website visitors to enter a Pi Day contest for a chance to win a prize pack. The contest runs through April 1.

J.R.’s Funeral on TNT’s ‘Dallas’ Tonight

One of America’s favorite TV villains, J.R. Ewing, will be laid to rest on tonight’s episode of TNT’s remake of the classic primetime soap opera “Dallas.” Expect to see many faces from South Fork’s past at the funeral.

Producers recently spoke about the challenge of writing around Hagman’s death in November. He portrayed J.R. in both the original and new series. Note: The interview contains spoilers for tonight’s episode, which airs at 8 p.m. CT.

CNBC Bows Two Reality Shows Tonight

Tonight, financial network CNBC enters the world of reality TV with two shows that reflect the channel’s business focus.

At 8 p.m. CT, “Treasure Detectives” features British art appraiser Curtis Dowling and his team of investigators. They help collectors of art and antiques discover if they’re holding trash or treasure. At 9 p.m. CT, “The Car Chasers” focuses on Flat 12 Gallery, a company in Suddenlink-served Lubbock, Texas, that buys cars with intriguing histories, restores them, and tries to make a profit on re-sales.

Weather Channel Preps Viewers for Tornadoes

With tornado season just around the corner, The Weather Channel is preparing viewers with Tornado Survival Week. Through Friday, the network is presenting tornado-themed programs dedicated to helping viewers prep for this unpredictable time of year. Programs will include safety tips and interviews with officials from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Federal Emergency Management Agency, as well as Weather Channel meteorologists.

ESPN2 Airing Bassmaster Classic This Weekend

Most fishing fans know who won the 2013 world championship of bass fishing held last weekend on Tulsa, Okla.’s Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees, but this weekend they’ll get to see all the action on ESPN2. Five hours of Bassmaster Classic coverage begins tomorrow (8 a.m. CT) with the first day’s competition. Coverage will conclude Sunday (9 p.m. CT) with four hours of day two action and the crowning of the champion.

C-SPAN’s ‘First Ladies’ Series Starts Monday

“First Ladies: Influence and Image,” a year-long series that takes a close look at the country’s first ladies, launches Monday, Feb. 25, at 8 p.m. CT on C-SPAN. The series starts with Martha Washington and winds through 220 years to Michelle Obama. Almost all the 45 women who have been first ladies will get a 90-minute episode.

C-SPAN, created by the cable television industry to provide public access to the political process, is available to all Suddenlink customers who have what is commonly known as Expanded Basic TV service.
