‘Auction Kings’ Marathon Tonight on Discovery

Immerse yourself in Discovery Channel’s “Auction Kings” tonight, with back-to-back episodes until 11 p.m. CT, including a new show at 8 p.m. that features Paul deciding to sell the pair of larger-than-life bronze horses that have stood guard at Gallery 63 for years. After some time off, the NCAA Basketball Tournament resumes with four regional semifinal games tonight and four more tomorrow. Sports Illustrated’s Luke Winn ranks the title chances of this year’s final 16 teams, and ESPN basketball guru Dick Vitale chimes in with his picks.

In “Forecasting the End,” a new series that premieres tonight at 8 p.m. CT, the Weather Channel explores scientifically accurate “what-if” scenarios that could end civilization. Supervolcanoes, mega tsunamis, rogue planets, huge solar flares and more are examined.

The NCAA Tournament’s four-game first round concludes this evening with two games on truTV. Long Island University-Brooklyn takes on James Madison University in the opener at 5:40 p.m. CT. In the nightcap, Boise State University meets La Salle University at approximately 8:10 p.m. CT. The winners will move on to the second round, or round of 64, which begins tomorrow. They’ll join last night’s first-round winners, North Carolina A&T and St. Mary’s College.

Catch Three New Series Premieres Tonight on Cable

Three original cable series will premiere tonight: Discovery Channel’s “How We Invented the World,” Spike TV’s “Urban Tarzan,” and ABC Family’s “Twisted.”

“How We Invented the World” examines four modern inventions: cell phones, cars, planes, and skyscrapers. Each episode in this four-part series reveals the stories and seemingly random events that ultimately led to the creation of these inventions. It airs at 8 p.m. CT.

On “Urban Tarzan,” get to know a famed animal wrangler and former Steve Irwin associate who rescues escaped animals. Showtime is 9:30 p.m. CT.

On “Twisted,” a troubled teen reconnects with two childhood friends. This is a special presentation of the pilot episode, which will play again June 11 as a kickoff to the show’s summer run. Tonight’s show starts at 8 p.m. CT.
